An Internet-of-Things product, the Suzy Snooze is an intelligent Night Light, Sleep Trainer and Baby Monitor.
Developed for a KickStarter startup, I developed both the Node server that runs on the device, as well as an associated iOS app for managing the device.
Hired through an external agency, We are Hive, I was responsible for working with their in-house designer as well as the client to design, develop and test the products.
Yubl was a startup where my role as interim CTO included building their continuous integration infrastructure, stabilising the team and developing a process that could work for them. As well as working closely with engineering to architect the apps for large scale production.
I worked closely with product, design and shareholders to scope, estimate and ensure the delivery of a quality application within the time constraints provided.
Yubl eventually reached #4 for most popular free social networking app in the UK above Skype, Pinterest, and LinkedIn.
Unfortunately due to financial reasons the company has since shut down.
Homebase was a legacy hybrid application built with a mix of native Objective-C and IBM technologies.
Working closely with Homebase's internal teams, I led a small team of 3 developers to plan, estimate and build multiple features.
I also developed documentation to make on-boarding easier and quicker since the current docs were quite outdated.
News UK: Sun Tablet
Sun Tablet was a digital version of the UK magazine for News International.
An engineering feat in its own right, I developed a completely custom layout and rendering engine to enable buttery-smooth performance on even the oldest iPad.
Developed with a tight deadline and a team of 4, I led the team to a highly successful CMS driven application.
Unfortunately this product no longer appears to be available for unknown reasons.
News UK: Times Sport
Times Sport was a digital version of The Times from News International.
I developed both the initial iPhone and iPad versions with a team of 4.
A feed-driven application that was dynamically driven via a bespoke CMS. Powered locally by CoreData, with diff-based updates applied through the use of queues and transactions.
Unfortunately this app no longer appears to be available for unknown reasons.
News UK: Sun Goals
SunGoals delivers the latest goals, highlights (including video), scores and statistics to football fans.
With over a million users in the UK, its a high volume application with a solid architecture from the ground up.
I worked on the original version of the application, developing the architecture and shipping the product across multiple versions.
SunGoals made heavy use of the Objective-C runtime to enable some highly advanced engineering, including dynamic delivery of widgets from a bespoke CMS.
It has since been re-written in Swift by the team at The App Business.
Playboy was a digital lifestyle iteration of the famous magazine.
I worked closely with the server-side team to develop bespoke features and content delivery mechanisms to give Playboy the customisations they needed to produce high quality content for the application.
I also worked on several internal apps for macOS that enabled content to be deployed to the CMS.
Peek is an open source tool that lets you easily check your application against your user interface's specification guide(s).
Peek can be used by engineers, designers & testers, allowing developers to spend more time on code and less time checking that fonts, colors and layout are pixel perfect.
Peek sits on top of your app using overlays, allowing you to inspect your app while its running.
Peek provides multiple inspectors, allowing you to validate against your designers specifications.
Peek is 100% open source, allowing you to include it in your own projects via Cocoapods
InkKit provides convenience extensions for drawing and geometry calculations. It is also cross platform working across iOS & MacOS & tvOS.
InkKit is built on top of UIGraphicsRenderer and extension CGContext directly to provide common advanced drawing techniques through a simple and intuitive API.
Outer, Centered and Strokes, Shadows, Alignment, Grids and much much more....
A concept app created while working for The App Business.
The goal was to create something that would guide guests and new-comers around the company towards meeting rooms, utilities and more.
All in a days work, I designed and built the app -- with a designer helping with the Floor map.
The concept was later re-developed using Apple's internal mapping features, which you can read about here.
Built for network administrators and software developers to test performances of Content Delivery Network (CDN), device and internet connections speeds
A week-long Christmas project slash Hackathon, turned into a project based on a simple tool my friend and I worked on for testing the Playboy app. We thought it might be useful for a lot of other teams as well, so we published it.
For a number of years now I've been using DigitalOcean as my VPS provider. They have great services, incredible pricing and fantastic support.
I decided to build an unofficial SDK (which I open sourced) as well as an associated app powered by that SDK that would allow me to manage my droplets and account.
